WILL HOLLYWOOD ABANDON AGW? Updated

I've never been a supporter of Anthropogenic Global Warming theory.  I'm quite a history buff, and, as such, I have noticed weather trends throughout history.  Things like the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age indicated, at least to me, that our climate has always been changing and will continue to do so.  There are a lot of people who now agree with me, so I'm happy that people are no longer giving me the stink eye quite as often when I voice my views on the subject.

There are a few holdouts, however, who refuse to acknowledge that the AGW scam has been shown up for what it is.  The first group of holdouts is our federal government.  Don't expect them to change their tune anytime soon.  For an administration that has talked about science taking a front seat again after the depravities of the evil Bush, they sure aren't interested in the science that is currently debunking AGW.  Not even the stuff coming from Phil Jones, the erstwhile head of the UK's Climatic Research Unit.  Their reason for ignoring the facts is simple, really - money and power.  Their cap and trade plans mean big money and absolute control over the energy sector, and, as we are learning with the health care 'debate', they are tenacious when they have their sights set on something.  Silly things like public opinion and facts won't deter them from their goals.

The other group is the Hollywood crowd.  They have spent years jetting around the world promoting neutral carbon footprints.  The truly dedicated ones, like Leonardo Di Caprio, have tried to live in accordance with their views, and I applaud them for that, even though I might not agree with them.  Unfortunately, they are few and far between - most of them live in their multi-million dollar, high carbon footprint mansions with their fleet of gas guzzling SUV's and definitely un-eco-friendly private jets.  For many of these people, the extent of their support for the green movement is smiling for a picture on the red carpet of a glitzy corporate financed fundraiser before snagging their swag bag worth thousands of dollars and hightailing it out of there to jet down to Mexico for some margaritas.

Some of those elite hypocrites might just be giving up the AGW ghost, however, once the newest study comes to their attention.  According to London's Mirror, cocaine use is now a major contributor to global warming:

Group chairman Keith Vaz said: "We were horrified to learn for every few lines of cocaine snorted in a London club, four square metres of rainforest is destroyed."

Uh-oh.

Whatever will all of the table-top dancing, club hopping, Chateau Marmont partygoers do?  What a dilemma! 

On a positive note, this might be a great development for Dr. Drew on Celebrity Rehab.  It's not just about being clean anymore - it's about being clean and green!  Talk about motivation!  

AGW - saving lives one acre at a time.

STATE OF THE YAWN-ION

Boy, was the State of the Union speech boring last night.  Even his own people couldn't stay awake.  Well, except for Nancy Pelosi, who was doing her annoying jack-in-the-box/seal clap routine. Granted, political speeches generally are boring, but this one was particularly so because it was just a rehash of every other speech he has given for the past year.

I guess you could say that speaks to his convictions.  Unfortunately, even his own party is starting to reject his agenda - after all, he may not be up for reelection this year, but they are. 

He has offered to listen to other ideas for health care reform.  Okay, how about the many options the Republicans have offered up that are languishing in committees in both Houses?  The problem with them is that they don't require a massive new bureaucracy and entitlement, so the democrat leadership aren't interested.

He blames Bush and the Republicans and literally in the next sentence calls for bipartisanship.  Nice.

He calls for spending freezes because of our faltering economy - to start next year.  What about this year, champ?  We're hurting now.

He mentions Cap and Trade, too.  Great....more billions spent on 'science' that is looking more and more dubious with every passing day.  He argues that green jobs will stimulate the economy.  I think Spain would argue with that - for every green job they created, they lost 2.2 regular jobs.  Yeah, that will help - help make us nostalgic for the good old days of 10% unemployment....

He barely mentioned foreign affairs or the two wars we are waging.  I suppose national security isn't important enough to rate more than 5 minutes.  Perhaps he didn't want to dwell on it and risk alienating our enemies.  Wouldn't want to offend the terrorists, now would we? 

All in all, it was the same old schtick.

He is going to continue to ram his agenda down our throats, he is going to continue to bankrupt the country and risk massive inflation by printing money to pay for his agenda, and he is going to continue to ignore the fact that there are people out there in the world who want to kill as many of us as possible.

The only new thing was his announcement to repeal 'don't ask, don't tell'.  As a free society, everyone has a right to be who they are, and if you are gay and want to fight and possibly die for your country, so be it.  No one should have to pretend to be something they're not, especially when you put your life on the line every day.  Our military fights for the freedom of all Americans, so all Americans should be able to join the ranks.

For those who are wary of the gayification of the military, rest assured - I'm pretty sure the more flamboyant characters won't be signing up and sashaying to the front lines wearing guyliner, platform boots and sparkly glamoflage.  There have been gays in the military throughout history, and there are gays in our military now.  As a free society, if they want their peers to know their orientation, they should be allowed to speak about it without fear of reprisal.  The stigma of homosexuality isn't what it was 20 years ago - most young people these days have known at least one gay person - and, as I said earlier, it's their country, too, and if they want to serve it, they should be allowed to do so.

So aside from 'don't ask, don't tell', the speech was pretty much the same old, same old.    Dear Leader is hell bent on bankrupting our children and forcing us all to be subservient to the Nanny State.

I have to say it's actually a little bit of a relief that he has decided not to 'pivot' and head back to the center.  That means the republicans are pretty much guaranteed to take the House come November, and possibly make the Senate a 50/50 split.

Now that's a state of the union I can get behind!

STATE OF THE YAWN-ION

BOYCOTT BUILD-A-BEAR Updated

My children have been fans of build-a-bear for a while now, but I'm afraid those days are over.  They will have to be happy with the ones they have, because we won't be getting them any more. 

Build-a-bear has a website - Build-a-Bearville.com - where kids can play games and watch short videos.  No big deal, right? 

Wrong.

Turns out some of those videos are AGW alarmist propaganda.  The basic plot of the three part series is that global warming is threatening Christmas.  Apparently Santa will be unable to make the rounds this year because of the horrible effects of global warming. 

This is indoctrination at it's sleaziest. 

Check out the videos.  I have sent an email to the website letting them know they have lost my business, and I urge you to do the same. 

I am getting tired of my children being targeted by these radical alarmists and their indoctrination tactics.

I object to your three part Santa video and it's alarmist mentality. I, like many other parents, do not believe in anthropogenic global warming and will not allow my children to be indoctrinated by you or anyone else.


Children the world over are suffering with anxiety issues due to the crazy alarmist claptrap being spouted in their schools and elsewhere about a science that is questionable, at best. The fact that you are now using a beloved childhood character, Santa, to forward the alarmist agenda is sleazy in the extreme and completely unacceptable.

Until you remove those offensive videos I will no longer be giving you one thin dime of my money.

This insanity must stop, but it won't until we let the alarmists know we aren't buying what they're selling.

And the left reacts (predictably, of course).  It's just a harmless video, it isn't scaring people - those right-wing zealots are!    BTW, imagine Santa's carbon footprint - he runs a factory, for heaven's sake, and rides in a sleigh with 8 or 9 reindeer.  If a dog is equal to an SUV, then I would imagine reindeer are like a Gulfstream jet - and he has the nerve to use 9 of them!!  He deserves what he gets.  Besides, isn't his factory impinging on polar bear hunting grounds?  And what about all of those non-union elves?    Don't even get me started on those poor, innocent reindeer, lashed to a heavy vehicle being driven by an obese, whip-wielding madman!  They need an attorney, pronto!

EPA JUMPS THE SHARK

Okay, the EPA has officially jumped the shark. 

Am I the only one who has a problem with the EPA declaring my very existence - the subconscious action of breathing - to be a hazard to human health and to the environment?  How can a gas that we exhale and plants inhale be toxic?

I feel like I'm living in '1984'.  Someday, when the corporate money flow dries up from excessive green taxation, are they going to start counting our exhalations and tax us accordingly?  Yeah, it seems a little ridiculous, but, hey, the foot is in the door now, so you just never know....

What this is really all about is a back door to Cap and Trade. 

The democrats know that Cap and Trade legislation is DOA.  The bill wasn't popular before ClimateGate; support is cratering now.

Al Gore's statement about AGW 'deniers' is classic projection (Hey Al - your desperation is showing):

The naysayers are in a sunset phase with a spectacular climax just before they subside from view.

Since the administration knows they don't have a chance in hades of passing their cap and tax scheme, they are going to use the EPA to call CO2 a  poisonous gas so that they can regulate and tax it that way.
