HORROR IN PHILADELPHIA Updated

In West Philadelphia an abortion doctor, Kermit Gosnell, has been arrested and held without bail for the murder of a 41 year old woman and seven live babies.  The more information that comes out about this man and his squalid back alley abortion clinic, the more appalling it becomes.  If you have the stomach for it, the full grand jury report is here.

Under his "care" (and I use the term very, very loosely), numerous patients suffered from perforated bowels, cervix and uterus. He was known to stitch up the problem and not mention it to the patient or their loved ones.  The grand jury report is chilling (via lifenews.com):

One woman, for example, was left lying in place for hours after Gosnell tore her cervix and colon while trying, unsuccessfully, to extract the fetus. Relatives who came to pick her up were refused entry into the building; they had to threaten to call the police. They eventually found her inside, bleeding and incoherent, and transported her to the hospital, where doctors had to remove almost half a foot of her intestines.

On another occasion, Gosnell simply sent a patient home, after keeping her mother waiting for hours, without telling either of them that she still had fetal parts inside her. Gosnell insisted she was fine, even after signs of serious infection set in over the next several days. By the time her mother got her to the emergency room, she was unconscious and near death.

A nineteen-year-old girl was held for several hours after Gosnell punctured her uterus. As a result of the delay, she fell into shock from blood loss, and had to undergo a hysterectomy.

One patient went into convulsions during an abortion, fell off the procedure table, and hit her head on the floor. Gosnell wouldn’t call an ambulance, and wouldn’t let the woman’s companion leave the building so that he could call an ambulance.

He performed late term (6,7,8 months) abortions regularly (often telling first-time mothers they were only 24 weeks along), and when the baby survived as a live birth, he would kill it by severing it's spinal cord with a pair of scissors.

What is most horrifying of all is that there are few records, which means there is just no telling how many times he did this.  The reason there are only seven counts of murdering live babies is because those are the only documented cases (via CBS Philly):

Gosnell is suspected of killing hundreds of living babies over the course of his 30-year practice. However, he is not charged because the records do not exist.

Among other complaints were his use of a 15 year old high school student to administer anesthesia.  He used unsterilized equipment and performed the procedures in rooms that often had animals and even litter boxes in them.  Eight members of his staff were also arrested, some of them for being unlicensed.  Gosnell himself wasn't even certified as an OB/GYN.

His abortion mill truly was a house of horrors.  There were bags and bottles containing aborted fetuses throughout the clinic, and there were jars of severed baby feet lining a shelf in his office.
Gosnell was in the business for thirty years, and it seemed to be a very lucrative living for him:

DA Williams said Gosnell made approximately $1.8 million in one year alone performing the procedures.

So why was he never shut down?  According to reports, even with numerous complaints and 46 malpractice lawsuits against Gosnell, there had been no inspections of his facility since 1993.  There are allegations that politics were the reason for the lack of oversight.  The Pennsylvania Departments of Health and State provided no oversight whatsoever for reasons unknown, and so he was allowed to victimize a community of poor, minority women with impunity.  It seems they came to the decision that it is better to have a butcher slaughtering innocents performing abortions than close him down and not have an abortion clinic in that neighborhood (not that there isn't another clinic about a mile away).

This man should be thoroughly evaluated by a mental health professional.  It's one thing to have a dirty facility (although probably not to the level that has been alleged), but it's a whole other thing to save severed feet in jars on a shelf.  They're almost like...trophies

The "doctor", his wife, and eight staff members have been arrested.  No one from Health or State  has even been reprimanded.  Animal slaughterhouses have more oversight than this man's facility, and the methods are more humane than those undertaken by Gosnell.

To top it all off, this week marked the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. It's hard to believe that in 38 years we have managed to go from dirty, back alley abortions to...this

Of course certain factions on the left are using this as a rallying cry for federal funding of abortions, arguing that if it were allowed, Gosnell would never have been able to do what he did.  In actuality, if the Departments of Health and State had done their job with regular inspections - heck, just investigated the multitude of complaints against him - he most likely would have been shut down years ago.  Instead, no one checked it out, because abortion is a political hot button and no one wanted to deal with the possible repercussions of an investigation.

In this case, it wasn't just the lives of the children that meant nothing, but the lives of the mothers, as well.  This man victimized a whole community, for decades, in the most debased, disgusting way imaginable, and it makes barely a blip on the national media scene.

God only knows how many women died or were permanently damaged from complications due to his botched abortions, and God only knows how many live babies were slaughtered at his and his staff's hands.  That there has been very little media coverage of this outrage practically assures that it will happen again, in another city, with another doctor.  It probably has already.  With our bureaucrats too frightened of the political ramifications of dealing with abortion issues, the odds are good that another house of horrors will crop up somewhere.

According to CBS News, Gosnell is "confused" by the murder charges and the fact that he was refused bail.  This man destroyed records and lied to patients about how far along they were so that he could perform illegal abortions, because he knew late term abortions were illegal in Pennsylvania.  He routinely murdered viable babies that would have lived had they received medical care (and not had their spinal cords severed with scissors). He injured patients and never notified them or their caregivers of the injury. His actions go beyond mere negligence.  He even went so far as to segregate white women who came for his services in cleaner rooms, because he thought they would be more likely to complain.  He knew what he was doing.  But don't be surprised if his "confusion" could well be the beginnings of a mental competency plea.

When he does go to trial, if he is found guilty and gets a death sentence, I humbly suggest that he die via his spinal cord being severed with a pair of scissors.

UPDATE:  The Abbess has a great piece on how the media is not covering the Gosnell story, and makes quite a compelling argument for why they should.  She also reminds them of another story that also deserved (and got) lots of media attention which helped to root out the evil.
In Pennsylvania, twenty-two abortion clinics have been investigated and fourteen have had issues - although nothing on par with Gosnell, thank God.
Delaware AG Beau Biden is investigating a clinic Gosnell worked at one day a week for a number of years.  He would often start abortions in DE and send the patient up to his clinic in Philly to finish the job due to Delaware's abortion laws.  He is also being investigated for defrauding the Delaware Pro-Choice Medical Fund by giving some of his PA patients DE addresses.
The Delaware clinic is owned by the same people who own a clinic in Louisiana that is so bad that a group of lawyers has threatened to sue the state Dept. of Health if they don't shut it down.
We seem to have forgotten that Roe v. Wade didn't just provide for legal abortions, it provided for safe legal abortions.  It's bad enough we're killing the babies; do we really need to be maiming and killing the mothers, too?

MEMORANDUM FOR SLAUGHTER

On October 25, 2010, President Obama signed a memorandum that will exempt four countries from 2008's Child Soldiers Prevention Act - Yemen, Sudan, Chad, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.  This Act was a bipartisan effort to block countries that recruit child soldiers from getting US military assistance or buying US arms.  Two other countries mentioned in the law, Myanmar and Somalia, are still prohibited.

So let me get this straight - if a kid in this country makes a gun shape with her finger and pretend 'shoots', she is suspended for making a "terroristic threat" to a teacher.  But if some third world hellhole forcefully 'recruits' a kid, gives him a real gun, trains him and sends him off to war, they get Uncle Sam to supply the weapons and foot the bill.

Isn't this genocide?  Why are we now supporting this?

For those not aware of the genocide in Darfur, many of those fleeing the violence are seeking refuge in Chad - another of the four exempted countries.  Could there possibly be a spillover of violence?

This has gotten little notice, but it should.  How can Obama in good conscience exempt these countries?  What in the world is he thinking?  The reason given for the exemptions is 'national security', and yet there is no explanation forthcoming on how, exactly, this affects our national security.  Is there some crisis he sees down the road where we will need armed children at our disposal?  Or does he believe the armed youth will be the voices of reason that will overthrow the government and then create a peaceful utopia?

Darfur is already in chaos.  Tacit approval of child soldiers by the US government is like throwing gasoline on a brushfire.  Please remember that this isn't economic aid, aid for reugees or food and other supplies for the poor.  This is a block on military aid.  Places like Darfur most definitely do NOT need more weapons.  What they need is a functioning, accountable government and a return to sanity.  This memorandum all but ensures they will not get it.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Happy Mother's Day, fellow Mommy Patriots!

I hope that your Mother's Day is blessed with lots of love and those wonderful little goodies made with our favorite little hands - those are the best kinds of presents.

For me, the path to motherhood was a difficult one.  At the age of 22, I was diagnosed with endometriosis, and was told that I would never be able to have children.  So I got a second opinion.  And a third.  And a fourth.  And even a fifth.  All the same prognosis.

But I refused to take no for an answer.

I endured operations, procedures, and experimental therapies.  My husband endured me going through massive amounts of fertility drugs, bless his loving, infinitely patient heart.  I left a path of destruction during the hormonal highs of those drugs  and cried a river of tears with each unsuccessful cycle and heartbreaking miscarriage.

But finally, finally, we gave it up.  We had taken all that we could take, and resigned ourselves to the fact that children were not in our future.  It was an agonizing reality.  And so I thanked God for the blessing of my beloved husband and let my dreams of motherhood go.  We had each other, and that was blessing enough.

It was a heartbreaking decision to stop trying, but after four years of a hormonal rollercoaster that had left me depleted both physically and mentally and my husband yearning for the calm, rational woman he had married, it was time to move on.

And so we stopped the injections and the rounds of doctors and rejoined the world.

Six months later I was driving home from work, and I was upset because one of my co-workers had "accidentally" found herself pregnant.  I cried on the way home, because of my jealousy and frustration over women who so easily found themselves in a situation that I just could not attain.  The pain was still so raw that it was hard to breathe when I heard the news.  But I kept it together and congratulated her with a happy smile - until the ride home, when it hit me like a sledgehammer and the tears came.

Why couldn't that be me?  Why couldn't I be one of those girls who suddenly realized she was...oops... three months late?  But then I took a deep breath, counted my blessings, and dried my eyes.   What would feeling sorry for myself do?  We'd done all we could do; it was in God's hands now.

That night I came down with a stomach bug.  A few days later, still suffering, I had an epiphany.

I suddenly realized that I was...oops...three weeks late!

I could barely breathe. Could my stomach bug possibly be something more?  I still had some EPT's under the sink and so I took a test.  And another.  And then I cried.  With tears streaming down my face, I walked into the livingroom and handed my man one of the tests.  He looked at it, looked at me, and told me to go to the doctor and have him do a test.

The next day, I went to the doctor.  I came home in tears, and my long-suffering husband wrapped me in his arms and kissed me tenderly, bracing himself for more bad news.

"We're pregnant," I whispered, clinging on to him for dear life.

"What?" he sniffled, sure he had heard wrong.

"We're pregnant!!" I shouted, and then I covered his bewildered face in  kisses and waited for the news to sink in.

I was put on strict bedrest and almost lost her twice, but eight months later I delivered our daughter, healthy, beautiful and the most perfect miracle I could have ever imagined.  I cry now just writing about it.  How is it possible to feel such joy without your heart bursting out of your chest from it?

Three years later, our second daughter was born; that pregnancy, too, was a complete surprise and an utter joy, and our family was complete.

For me, the trials and tribulations of motherhood happened before the children were born.  Everything since has been a piece of cake by comparison (although we have barely dipped our toes in the teen years yet, so I might be overly optimistic in my thinking).

Sometimes, in my constant immersion in the political scene, I get that same sense of futility that I got towards the end of the fertility treatments.

When I do, I step back, take a deep breath, and remember that sometimes, when things seem the most bleak, hope waits just around the corner.

THE BATTLE IN TEXAS

I mentioned in my post The Revision of Pride that there is a battle brewing in Texas over classroom textbooks.  The battle is heating up, and, at least so far, the conservatives are winning.

Here's a little backstory for anyone who isn't up on the subject.  For the past few decades, the textbook publishers have been catering to the demands of California's board of education, because California bought the most textbooks of any state in the nation.  That certainly explains a lot about the liberal trend in the classroom, doesn't it?  Unfortunately for California, their budget woes have translated into fewer new textbook purchases.

However, what is unfortunate for California is quite fortunate for the rest of us.  Texas has since replaced California as the leading textbook purchaser for the nation.  This means the state of Texas can now make demands of the publishing companies, much as the state of California did, and those changes may well effect textbooks everywhere.  And demand, they are!

The Texas Board of Education is in the process of debating and voting on changes to curriculum, and the battle between liberal and conservative board members has been heated, but, so far, the conservatives are winning:

Conservative members had their way in the 11-4 vote, which came one day after several Democratic board members walked out, claiming the proposed standards dilute the contribution of minorities to American history and culture. The debate, which picked up again Friday morning, ended with only a single Democrat voting to support the new standards.

The fact that the liberals walked out should come as no surprise.  If we have learned anything from the past year+ of liberal rule it is that the only acceptable compromise is full capitulation to their demands.  Anything less is unacceptable.  The fact that there was one democrat who voted for the changes is cause for hope, though, and that democrat should be given credit for agreeing that learning about American exceptionalism is more important than the cultural significance of hip-hop music.

The main liberal argument is that there isn't enough minority representation.  There were many minority contributions to the creation and preservation of this Union, but let's face it - back in the 1700's, whether in America or Europe, minorities didn't have much voice.  Happily, those wrongs were righted and became the freedom we enjoy today, but it doesn't take away from the basic facts of life.  This country was founded by a group of white men.  This is not a travesty - it just is what it is.

Does that mean that our kids shouldn't learn about people like Frederick DouglassDolley Madison or Sojourner Truth?  Of course they should - they helped shape this country and should be remembered for their contributions.  But should our Founding Fathers be replaced by Famous Amos and Mary Kay?  I personally believe that the black community in America has contributed far more than just a cookie maker (wildly successful entrepreneur though he may be) and hip-hop, and it is a disservice to them to relegate their portion of history to those narrow confines.

As a woman, I feel that the suffrage movement should also be discussed, if not in depth, at least touched upon.   Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and the many other thousands of women who risked life and limb in their nearly 100 year battle to win the priviledge of voting for all of us is something that has been lost to the girls of today.  Teaching our children about what they went through is important as a reminder that some sacrifices are worth it, and everyone deserves dignity and a voice.

This battle in Texas is so important, because the education we give our children dictates where we are headed as a country.  The California years, when they dictated the curricula, lead us down the path of collectivism and european socialism.  History lessons are based on feelings and impressions, not hard fact.  Our children are being taught to relate history into how they feel about an event, not the factual repercussions of it.

The liberals swept themselves in to victory in 2008 because that election was enabled by the subtle decades-long indoctrination of our youth (who are now beginning to reject that flawed reality).  It's time to turn it around, and the Texas board of education has become the front line in the battle.

The tide is turning, though, the tide is turning.  To keep it turning, we have to learn from the opposition.  The main tactic that has worked so well for them has been their role as the 'squeaky wheel'.  Their protests, lawsuits and generally irritating tactics have served them well.  We are learning their lessons, but we are only applying them to the federal realm.  As Tip O'Neill once said, "All politics is local".   Yes, we need to keep the pressure on the apparent federal socialist revolution that is taking place before our eyes, but we also need to apply that same pressure locally - most especially our school boards and PTA.

Our children are literally our future, and we need to be as aware of that fact as the liberal/progressives have been.  We need to fight them tooth and nail for the hearts and minds of our children.  The Texas fight is just the beginning, but what a beginning it is!

THE REALITY ALARM GOES CHA-CHING!

Our esteemed President and his Congressional minions have reached yet another milestone (via ABC's Jake Tapper):

The government racked up a record-high monthly budget deficit of $220.9 billion in February, the Treasury Department announced today.

The latest flood of red ink brings the total deficit for the first five months of the current fiscal year to $651 billion, far exceeding the $589 billion shortfall for the same timeframe in the last fiscal year.

The government ended the 2009 fiscal year with a record $1.4 trillion shortfall. The Obama administration has forecast a $1.56 trillion deficit for this year.

Is it any wonder the young adults of America are losing hope?

Fewer than half said they believe they will be better off than their parents when they reach their parents' age.

Is it possible that this administration is going to end up being more Nixonian than Kennedy-esque or FDR-ish?  Not to say that President Obama will have to resign or face impeachment - it's more about the effect he and his administration's actions have  had on the psyche of the country.  The generation that came of age in the 1960's and '70's had their faith in government dashed in the face of the corrupt reality, and the gradual decline in trustworthyness really hit the skids.  After Nixon, there was a sense of disillusionment and distrust of government that permeated rank and file American's views of politics.  This caused a backlash of suspicion that took a few decades to dull.  There was a small uptick in the Reagan years, but that short period of faith was put back into its downward rut in the scandal-plagued Clinton years and beyond.

Then, suddenly, there was an abrupt, out of the blue 180 that occured the day Obama won the primary.  Suddenly, government was the answer to a whole new generation, and all that good will was poured into the empty suit  at the top of the ticket.  He was a blank canvas on to which they painted their hopes and dreams, a beautiful, lush utopia in jewel colors, and they transferred their dependency from their parents to their government, which was embodied in one man.

Obama was elected on a wave of goodwill.  He was lifted up as a shining example of what government could be.  Unfortunately, as often happens, the reality just hasn't lived up to the hype.  All of those college students and 20-somethings who supported him and looked up to him and his vision of a new utopia are now waking up to a harsh reality.  He is just another politician out to spend their future just like all the rest.

With the country in the midst of a slow economic recovery with nearly 10 percent unemployment, the data finds a deep sense of gloom among 18-29 year olds. The grim mood could have immediate political consequences, and it could also shape that generation's long-term faith in government and in its ability to improve their daily lives.

This particular generation has much farther to fall, too, because at no other time in our history has there been such a pampered, coddled youth; nor has there been so many who saw the government, parent-like, as the answer to all the problems.

There seems to be a delicious irony in all of this.

After all, it was the hippy culture of the 1960's and '70's that gave birth to the whole 'never trust the government or anyone over 30' mentality.  Now those same people are well beyond their 30's and in positions of power in our government.  They are demanding, incredibly enough, absolute trust in government.  Even more incredibly, they apparently have received it from the younger generations who have been gradually indoctrinated into acceptance of government as the answer to everything.  Our youth have been taught that the nanny state is only out to serve them and take care of them, and they believed it, these priviledged children of overindulgent parents who took care of everything - they bought it hook, line and sinker.  Until their beloved government went hog wild, pillaged their futures, and taught them the hard way that nothing in life is free.  This seems to have created a suspicion backlash against those in power.  Again. That whole "what goes around, comes around" thing is a real pain, isn't it?

Hopefully those kids who have had a sad wake-up call will realize that there is cause to hope, and that it resides in them.  They are the hope for the future, not some politician or government entity.

This is a country built on dreams, and they are the dreamers.  The people of this country got through the Great Depression and came out stronger for it.  We can get through this - hopefully stronger and wiser.  Our pampered youth are learning the hard way that nothing comes for free, and that a politician's promise of utopia comes with a hefty pricetag.  But hopefully they will also learn that hard work, dedication and determination can deliver many wonderful things to those who dare.

Yes, our government has been frittering away their inheritance for decades, but that doesn't mean it can't be replaced.   In order to do that, though, the first thing that needs to be replaced is those currently in power.

There are literally trillions of reasons why.

LOVE, FAMILY AND SNOW

I hope that everyone had a great Valentine's/President's Day weekend.  I took a few days off to spend some quality time with the family.   Today's post has nothing whatsoever to do with politics, for a change.  No offense to our Presidents, but today I want to focus on something even more important.  Love and family.

My husband and I were raised in the Northeast, but our children have been born and raised in Florida.  We have been wanting to take them to see snow for a few years now.  This year, however, our oldest turned 13 and soon snow won't be such a fun thing for her, so time was of the essence.  We tried to get some time over the holidays to make a trip, but things kept popping up (namely, I was called for jury duty).  So when we heard that there would be snow as far south as southern Georgia this past weekend, my husband and I decided to go for it.

We took the kids out of school early Friday, packed up the car and hit the road.

We drove north until we hit snow, then drove a little further until there was decent accumulation.  By this time it was about 9:00 at night.  We pulled off the highway and parked at a rural gas station and bundled the kids up and set them loose on the snow.

They had no idea what to do, aside from pelt each other with 'snowballs' (loose handfuls of snow), so my husband, a Syracuse native who knows his way around snow, helped them make a snowman and snow angels.  We even bought some plastic lawn and leaf bags and showed them how to use them as sleds to go down the hills.

Needless to say, the kids were absolutely thrilled and had a great time.  Once their feet were good and frozen, we got some hot cocoa and changed into dry clothes and headed home.

My youngest documented the trip with her camera, even down to video of the storm front as we headed into it.  It was a great day and a really wonderful memory for all of us.  Sure, it was about 9 hours of driving for just one short hour in the snow, but it was worth every minute.  It is a priceless memory and I will carry the image of their happy faces with me always.

The weekend ended on a truly joyous note.  We joined my sister at her boyfriend's restaurant for a family Valentine's Day dinner and ended up witnessing her engagement!   I am just thrilled for Kathy, and am so happy that Kevin, intrepid individual that he is, is willing to join our crazy family.  He is a wonderful man who makes her so happy that she glows with it, and I thank God that they found each other, and I wish them many, many happy years together.

It was a weekend filled with laughter, love and family.  I shut off the news and ignored the lure of the internet.  I have a lot of catching up to do, but it was worth it.  I find myself so caught up in the machinations of the political world sometimes, and it is nice to take a break and recharge.  The broad view of the world right now is so depressing and uncertain that forgetting about it for a little while and spending time in my own little world with the people that I love so very much has become even more special and important.

To my beloved husband, my darling Joe, I say thank you.  Thank you for a great weekend, thank you for fulfilling my crazy whim to chase the snow, thank you for our children, and thank you for loving me through thick and thin.  Thank you for supporting me and my out-of-the-blue, sometimes boring, sometimes manic political obsession of the past two years.  Thank you for being such a wonderful, loving father and supportive, patient spouse.  As a wise man once said, "The world is in your eyes, the sun, the stars, the skies go tumbling, whenever you are near".

THE END OF CHILDHOOD

I often try to read the books my 13 year old daughter is reading.  Sometimes all I can manage is skimming the books, because she is a voracious reader and it is hard to keep up.  I do this for two reasons - I want to be able to talk to her about things she is interested in, but I also do it to make sure she is reading things that are age appropriate.  There are many books out there for teen girls that have content that would make a grown adult blush, which is why I like books like the Twilight series so much.  Grand romance without gratuitous sex - a rare thing, these days.

Unfortunately, my diligence in shielding my children from inappropriate sexual content seems to be all for naught.

Our 'Safe Schools Czar', Kevin Jennings, is doing his level best to make all of my efforts to protect my children from the depravities of the world completely useless.  If this man has his way, my children will get an education unlike anything I'd ever expected.

Some of the curricula Mr. Jennings is pushing at a GLSEN conference is highly questionable at best, pornographic and exceedingly inappropriate at worst.  Gateway Pundit has the rundown.  Warning: very explicit content.

Mr. Jennings insists that he was unaware of the material being showcased at the conference, but, according to a Massachusetts teacher who attended the conference, Mr. Jennings was not just aware, but was the driving force behind it.  Hot Air's Ed Morrissey has the video.  Warning: the end of the post has a graphic that is, well, pretty graphic.

Now, I'm no prude, and I think a certain amount of age-appropriate sex ed is healthy, but this is NOT.  These books teach deviant behavior, promiscuity and promote homosexuality.  I have no problem with homosexuality, but I do have a problem with it being forced on my children and treated as something everyone does, implying my children should try it.

I was going to exerpt some of the passages, but, quite frankly, the material is far too offensive.

I don't know about you, but the 'Safe Schools Czar' is making me feel pretty unsafe.

Yet another reason to home school.

CLIMATEGATE'S IMPACT

For over a decade now, the Anthropogenic Global Warming proponents have been saying the science is settled and the consensus is in their favor.  Skeptics have been marginalized, ridiculed and mocked.  Our children are being indoctrinated into the cult of global warming with or without our consent (although sometimes their plans fail), and their level of anxiety about the apocalyptic scenarios AGW alarmists are force feeding them has reached epidemic proportions.

The ClimateGate scandal (or WarmerGate, as Mark Steyn calls it) is a scam of global proportions.  Trillions of taxpayer dollars are at stake, as well as the sovreignty of our country.

The Copenhagen summit is not just about addressing climate change.  It is about setting up a global government, to which all participating countries would bow.  This would not just give the UN governing body jurisdiction over each nation's climate regulations, but also their financial, economic and tax regulations.  Our laws would be second to the global government, who could override them at their discretion.  And who would be electing this global government?  Not we the people, that's for sure.  Most likely UN diplomats would choose amongst themselves.  How would we get rid of questionable appointees?  Good question.  It seems like we'd just have to grin and bear it, much like we do with the idiots currently in the UN.

The plans proposed in the Copenhagen treaty will have a profound impact on our and our children's lives.  Taxes will skyrocket, the revenues of which will go to the UN council in charge of climate to disperse at their own discretion.  This is redistribution of wealth on a global scale

Based on a science that is, at best, compromised - at worst, a complete fraud.

The scientists responsible for the fraud should be jailed.  This scheme makes Bernie Madoff's ponzi scheme look like small potatoes.

Supporters of AGW say that the science is still sound; that the misconduct of a few scientists doesn't negate the whole field.  The problem is, the collusion isn't limited to just the CRU.  The emails show scientists from Penn State, Amherst, the University of Arizona and the U.S.'s National  Center for Atmospheric Research, to name a few, were in on the scam and were actively changing data to support their theories.

AGW supporters will then point to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - the gold standard of AGW rhetoric.  The problem is, they got almost all of their information from East Anglia's
CRU.  Scientists who did independent study are also suspect, simply because they got their initial baseline data from CRU - data that the emails prove is fatally flawed.

The original, untampered data has been deleted, so starting from scratch is going to be difficult, at best.

The neo-pravda media in the US is making excuses, of course, and trying to make the hacking the big scandal, not the material that has been hacked - when they are bothering to cover the story at all, that is.

We must rise up and demand answers.  Sen. Inhofe R-OK is demanding a hearing into the scandal, and has even taken the step to notify implicated parties that there will be no information deleting until the hearings end.

This issue is of vital importance to families around the world.  We must demand answers, transparency and a halt to any and all proposed legislation until the situation has been sorted out.

Our children's futures depend on it.

WELCOME TO THE SISTERHOOD

Let me start off by saying that a) I went to a few Tea Parties, homemade signs in hand, b) I watch Glenn Beck and c) I took my daughters to see Sarah Palin in 2008.

Don't be frightened.

I know that that makes me a dangerous right-wing nutjob, but truly, I'm relatively harmless.

Until election day, that is.

For a long time, I was asleep, having a vague idea of what was going on in the world outside my door.  I was working or raising my kids, and, as long as things didn't get too outrageous, I rarely followed politics.  I  wasn't happy with certain policies of Bush and Clinton, but they also both did things I approved of.  The elections and re-elections of those two were tepid affairs; all of the candidates were shades of the others, barely distinguishable.

But the 2008 election woke me up.  The radical nature and murky, undisclosed past of Barack Obama triggered something in me.  I love to research stuff of the web - knowledge is power.  I researched Joe Biden (who actually was my father's attorney for his divorce!), John McCain, Sarah Palin and Barack Obama.   There was so much unanswered about Obama, so many questionable associations.  The more I saw, the more concerned I became.

I was reminded of an old adage - 'show me your friends and I'll tell you who you are'.

I did not like the picture I was getting of Obama.  Yes, he is a phenominal speaker.  He has the cadence of a preacher, but toned down to a subtle rhythm.  Very effective.  But I was listening to what he was saying, and hearing the double talk.  He was remarkably successful at fooling most of the people who were desperate for change, no matter how vague and amorphous it was.

But I was wide awake and not buying it.

All I could see was all of the new entitlements and redistribution of wealth he was promising and the marxist/socialist associations and positions .  I, being a mother, was looking far down the road, trying to see what effect his agenda was going to have on my children's future.  I was not encouraged.  Even during a time of economic stability, implementing his full agenda in the timeframe he was talking about would have been untenable.

Economic downturn or not, he has gone full-steam ahead on his lofty agenda.  He has his place in history to assure, apparently.  It doesn't matter that my future grandchildren are going to have to pay for it.  The people he has been putting into offices specifically created to undermine or circumvent the system of checks and balances are working on forwarding the progressive agenda - one I was disagreeing with the more I learned about it.

Eventually I was finding myself talking to the news anchors on tv.  I knew I needed a release, so I turned to blogging.  The catharsis of getting it out there, releasing that apprehension and concern out into the blogosphere helped.  But it wasn't enough.

I still felt isolated and cut off.  During the campaign, speaking up was not allowed, and people who did were branded as 'lunatic fringe'.  Or racist.  So speech was squelched, dissent was hidden.  After the election, the excuse of 'he's only been in office for (x) months - give him a chance!' kept things to a slow simmer.  People were beginning to grumble and assemble, though.  Numbers accumulated.  Parties were held.

I realized how many people felt the way I did.  I spoke to moms at the Tea Parties and the Palin Rally, and suddenly felt...empowered.  I wasn't alone.

But those parties are few and far between.  The feeling of strength in numbers faded, and the helpless solitude crept back in.

But then Glenn Beck invited a bunch of moms onto his show, and I realized I wasn't alone.  A woman told of reassuring a friend who felt hopeless and ineffective that she wasn't alone - she was a member of the Sisterhood of the Mommy Patriots.  That struck a cord in me.

And so I bought the domain name and asked a friend (and future contributor) to help me set up the site (Thanks so much, Lisa - you rock!).

I wanted to make a forum for like-minded moms.  Posts on this site are going to be written from a mother's perspective; how policy, legislation and other actions will effect our families now and in the future.

Our voices must be heard, for the sake of our children.

This insane agenda of tax, spend, borrow and bailout must be stopped.

We are many, we are strong, we are determined and we can be influential.  We drive the economy, we vote, we educate our children, we influence our men.  We are strong, intelligent, and patriotic, and we don't back down from a fight - we are American women

Divisiveness is tearing this country apart.  It is time to stand together.  We are fighting for the future of our children and grandchildren.

I look forward to this new adventure and hope that a community sprouts from this; women relying on other women, giving each other strength and a sense of shared purpose.- a true sisterhood.

So welcome to the Sisterhood of the Mommy Patriots.  I hope you join us and raise your voice for freedom and the future.  I and my fellow contributors look forward to keeping you informed and hearing your voice in return.
